Let’s begin…………

START YOUR SEARCH WITH SIMPLE PHRASES
No matter what you seek, always make a simple search like ‘where is the closest restaurant’ you can add location or place to get better result.

EMPHASIZE KEY WORD
Google search engine is like a friend you are asking for assistance in finding something. The better you explain what you seek, the better the result you get. The key word must be present though, and if possible let it appear in more than one place.
You can use Google voice search. Just click on the microphone close to the search icon and say the word. Visit Google for more information.
CHOOSE WORDS CAREFULLY
Use words like ‘diarrhea’ instead of ‘am having running stomach’ when you are looking for a words from medical related sites and you will get a better result.
CAPITALISATION AND STOP WORDS
Search for words in upper case will give the same result as the lower case. Also Google tend to ignore words like ‘a’ ‘are’ ‘what’ ‘or’ and so on. But when such small words are in upper case and between two words, Google considers them. For example. Mango OR guava

USING THE OPERATOR SIGNS
Using the ‘-‘operator sign lets Google omit the particular word when searching. For example typing the word ‘-jug’ as part of a sentence will make Google give less priority to jug in the search.
Same thing with the ‘+’operator sign.
But note that the minus or plus operator sign must not come after the word and there must be a space before the combination.
Looking for synonyms is also the same process. Adding a ‘~’ operator sign to a word will make Google include words with similar meaning in the search. For example if you type ‘~man’ Google will add all words with man, male, boy, and so on in the search.

SITE SEARCH

Typing the name of a site in Google will display all results present within that site.  For example if you type ‘nairaland.com’ in the search, Google will display results in that site alone.
