AGRICULTURAL SECTOR, THE UNFORESEEN GOLDMINE

It’s no longer news that the present Nigerian Government under the all progressive congress party (APC) in the Era popularly called “change” Has encouraged all Nigerians to go into farming at a larger scale. The only problem being that there is no proper or accessible facilities in place to handle the outcome in case of excesses. And this is the first opportunity worth looking into.

Venturing into entrepreneurship in the Agricultural sector has no better time to thrive than in recession when food becomes the first and most important priority of every home.

From experience I have discovered that opportunity abound in every situation both positive and negative. For example when dollar rises, people make money and when it falls some other people make money. That’s how things play out in the world. It’s only important that you sit and think out where the possible opportunity abound. I have decided to bring up a topic of this nature at this very crucial time to stair you up to begin to think out possible areas where certain opportunities may abound to make you extra cash. For some people it may be that they have the money but lack where to invest it in. please read on and am sure you will find something by the time you are through reading this article.

Recession as I earlier discussed in my previous post is not something to be afraid of especially if you have foresight. In that discussion, I tried to emphasize the need to create multiple streams of income, save more, invest, cut down expenses and much more, as a way of surviving as well as sustaining wealth during recession.

Now I will try to look at possibilities that are available currently in the country and how we can actually tap into the investment sector to maximize the opportunities that abound to our advantage.  We will also look at the key areas that have been ignored for a very long time now and all of a sudden seems to be the most selling presently. And that is Agriculture and agricultural products.

We all know that not every one that makes money from agriculture knows how to use the hoe or cutlass. And not everyone certainly that use agricultural produce has to be a farmer but one thing is sure though; any one can make cool money from agriculture by one means or the other as I will explain later in this article. Strawberry business is a very booming business on the plateau. While strawberry is in surplus in plateau and at very affordable rate, people in Lagos are willing to buy at high price but can’t access it “wow!” What of oranges from Benue and many other products.

So how can we actually make money from Agriculture without even knowing anything about farming? And remember that farming does not only involve farm produce but also animal production Like fish farming, cattle rearing, poultry, keeping of dogs and other animals and so on. These are really lucrative businesses especially in our present times.

Note that most people have made millions from farming through several means which involves marketing farm produce, buying low and selling high, creating a link between farmer and buyers(middle men), converting farm produce to other useful products, creating rented storage facilities to farmers, creating chemical treatments to farmers for farm produce and so on. There is much more to the list.
Grab a cup of coffee; sit back as I unveil to you the possibilities that abound in the Agricultural sector especially in Nigeria.
You will often times see trucks loaded with oranges, mangoes, animals like cow, sheep’s, goats, even dogs, most of them are transported not by the farmers themselves but by investors with foresight.

Take a walk around the villages today and see how majority of farmer and non-farmers have picked their hoe, people are acquiring more farm lands, and planting varieties of crops in those farms. But I keep asking this question, what will happen to these farm products if proper storage facilities are not in place or industries are not sufficient?. What can be done to the perishable once? What of fertilizer business?
My “what of’s” have no end. But finally I asked what of investors?. Are they seeing the opportunities in these sector now that the sector is about to massively open up? The earlier the better.
Enough talking lets now dive to the matter for the day.
Let’s begin………….
